Nestled at the base of the Hapūkone
ranges, the first European settlers named the area “The Orchard” after the
quince and peach trees grown by local Maori.
The special characteristics found
only in the soils of the Hauraki Plains impart a unique flavour profile on our
fruit, one you can only experience by tasting a Kaihere Orchard feijoa.
Our orchard and pack house
were established at Kaihere on the Hauraki Plains in 1974. Brought by Jill
and Garry McIntosh in 1994 and converted to a specialised feijoa orchard. Now
owned and operated by Hannah and Earle. With two generations of orchardists at
Kaihere, the McIntosh family has a solid background and experience in producing
some of the best feijoas in New Zealand.
